ONE IMPORTANT THING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR FEMALE BODY
- so you can enjoy all the strengthening, rejuvenating and preventive benefits that are actually right at your feet.
Women know far too little about their own bodies.
We're not even taught in school how our body actually works (beyond the sexual basics), what happens to it and our brain health when we're inactive, and what happens when we gain weight and try to force a calorie-deficient body to exercise to excess. We deserve to know a lot more about our bodies!
[col=#ffffff/For many, many years we have been fed the story of fat as our greatest health enemy]
And we have fought the hated fat cells with every weapon we could get our hands on. To no avail. Because the biggest threat to our health isn't fat, it's age-related loss of muscle mass - our main source of youth.
I said age-related, but age isn't really the villain in this story. It's when the signal between our brain and muscles - our drive - gets weaker and weaker, eventually making it really hard for us to wake up our muscles and set them in motion. The result is that we age faster and get unwelcome visitors in the shape of everything from weight gain to brain fog, less energy and more pain - in other words, a body and brain in energy crisis. Naturally, we move less, but that just makes the signal even weaker and the vicious circle is complete.
DON'T PANIC
Quite often I get messages from women asking me for help to break the vicious cycle, and what they have in common is the feeling of panic.
DO SOMETHING NOW!
And the solutions are lining up - just spend 5 seconds in your social feed and you've probably been introduced to the first bootcamp or a smart dietary supplement that promises to 'melt the fat off you in just 2 weeks'.
My response to that is: Don't panic
"When you cut calories or increase the intensity of your workouts, you're only exacerbating the crisis."
Because if you extract more energy from a body that's already lacking energy, you're paying from your retirement savings of muscle and bone - but by depleting your muscle mass in an attempt to keep your dream weight at a certain number, and by resorting to all sorts of methods to sustain eating much less, you're actually feeding the problem!
It's possible that some innovative dietary supplement can melt the fat off you (I doubt it!), but along with the fat comes muscle mass, and that's expensive. Not just on your own body account and health savings for later in life - but also in terms of money for the state.
For example, a new Canadian study shows that sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass) is a huge economic problem, costing Canada up to 3 trillion dollars a year (!) - and a massively increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and body inflammation. We may have thought that high weight was the bomb under our global health - but lack of muscle is just as much of an explosion hazard! There are studies pointing to the same issues in the UK - and if you look hard enough, probably all over the world.
STRENGTH TRAINING IS LIKE EFFECTIVE MEDICINE
For the past 14 years, I've been advocating micro strength training as the solution to the health crisis of the future. Because high-quality, low-repetition strength training is the only way to maintain shrinking muscle mass and build new muscle mass - the muscles that shape and rejuvenate our bodies, strengthen our bones and balance our hormones and nervous system.
Thousands of Scandinavian women are training after my method
- THE 5
– with 5 minutes of microtraining a day - or at a time - with a frequency they have never experienced before, because it’s such an easy and manageable workout that, most importantly, has not exhausted their bodies, which were probably already exhausted due to small children, busy work schedules and sleep deprivation.
And my mission is to get women all over the world to micro-train.
Just 5 minutes a day as a strong safety net.
More if time, energy and schedules allow.
- To empower every woman's brain health through strategic brain-based strength training.
- To teach all women to invest wisely in their bodies so they don't lose vital muscle mass as they age and can continue to have energy, power and strength at every age.
- To offer every woman a wingwoman in their life - because we need it, yes, you too! - with workouts that can fit into every stage of a woman's life.
Because that's the crux of the matter
Without going all meta-feminist on this, there are an incredible number of workouts out there that are adapted for men. But few, if any, actually take into account all the phases of a woman's life, where our needs naturally change - and therefore they don't work or don't work well for us.
There is NO one-size-fits-all when it comes to our health, but it's rooted in science that strength training is the best medicine - although heavy lifting is also a no-size-fits-all, because no one can tell you how much or how heavy you can or should lift today. Only how you feel today has the answer.
So how do you learn to master strength training according to your day and life stage so that you can train at a frequency that strengthens and rejuvenates your muscles, bones, nervous system, hormones, brain and skin?
THAT is my mission and I hope you'll join me.
